Each year Macon County kids get to find out firsthand during the Decatur Police Benevolent and Protective Association’s two Shop with a Cop programs, one in August for back to school and one in December for Christmas. What’s it like to play Santa for a day? We asked the Decatur Police Department’s Sergeant Scott Rosenbery, who is also president of the Decatur Police Benevolent and Protective Association (PB&PA) Unit #39, and tapped him for great ideas on how to give the gift of activity in Macon County.

In addition to the obvious turkey, stuffing and all the trimmings, November makes us think of thankfulness – and giving thanks in Decatur leads our minds to the Judy Mason Thanksgiving Basket Project, the long-running local effort to make sure Macon County families have things in their bellies and hearts to be thankful for. So who better to ask how to give thanks than the project’s own coordinator, Julia Livingston?
Favorite fall family outing in Macon County:
My family loves Black Bart’s Pumpkin Patch! We usually go multiple times in the autumn (on field trips and together as a family). There are so many pumpkin patches in the area, but we love Black Bart’s for the close proximity and the family-owned atmosphere,
