History Is Sweet on the Heritage & Holly Tour
Changes are coming to Decatur’s Heritage & Holly Historic Home tour, but the important things, especially the heritage, are staying the same.
Dove, Inc., is taking over the holiday event from the Near Westside Restoration and Preservation Society, which has organized the tour since 1991. This year’s theme is “Sweet Beginnings.” Dove will share the beginnings of current programs and tie the theme into several stops on the tour.
Visitors will again have the opportunity to learn about Decatur’s heritage through historic homes decorated for the holidays. The telephone room under the stairs of the Vanzetti home, for example, housed one of the first telephones in the area. It will be Santa’s Workshop for the tour.Read More
